Researchers have found more evidence indicating that three daily portions of whole-grain foods, specifically wheat or a mixture of wheat and oats, may have the power to lower blood pressure.
This recent study had about 200 middle-aged healthy participants. For four weeks they ate a diet of basically no whole-grains and only refined grains, then for twelve weeks they ate a diet consisting of 3 servings a day of whole-grain wheat and oats.

Pfizer is voluntarily removing the drug Thelin, meant to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension, from the market and stopping all clinical trials based on new information showing that it is associated with liver toxicity and even fatal liver injury. The drug was approved in the European Union, Canada and Australia.

Another study was recently published which focused on garlic and blood pressure. In this case, researchers hoped to determine if aged garlic could lower blood pressure in adults on antihypertension medication and whose blood pressure was still uncontrolled.
The study lasted 12 weeks and included 50 patients from Australia. At the end of the study, it was found that those taking the aged garlic extract capsules (960 mg containing 2.4 mg S-allylcysteine daily) had statistically significant reductions in systolic blood pressure compared to those on the placebo.
